Electric wheelchair battery packs are made from lithium iron phosphate batteries, commonly known as LiFePO4 or LFP batteries. These battery packs make electric wheelchairs safer than those using other types of batteries.

The same model LFP battery is approximately 2/3 the volume and 1/3 the weight of a SLA battery.
